On Leaving LifeChurch.tv
Three years ago LifeChurch.tv, mainly Bobby Gruenewald, Terry Storch and Brandon Donaldson took a chance on me - an intense, bull in a china shop, young leader who was super passionate about online ministry but liable to step on toes. From the very first day the development culture of LifeChurch.tv has grown, refined and brought more out of me then I could have ever imagined. And the excitement of the innovative projects, amazing ministry in people’s lives, and the thrilling challenges of pioneering Church Online has been an honor to work in and experience. That is why it’s been a long and prayerful process between my family, God, and the leaders at LifeChurch.tv on my decision to step out of my role there.
The simple opportunity to work along side the brilliance on the Digerati team has been a real blessing. It’s been amazing to benefit from the leadership environment of Craig Groeschel; whose life is a generation changing witness of an effective and humble leader. He still leads with the passion and clarity of a year one church planter willing to risk it all to reach the world. Being a part of a move of God like LifeChurch.tv is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so it took me a while to not think I was just being crazy as I felt my fit shifting while there.
Before I go on let me note that I’m as big a fan of LifeChurch.tv, it’s ministry and leaders as I have ever been. This move comes with friendships stronger and healthier and on a very positive note. There isn’t a hidden issue, simply a great church with a passion for sending out leaders as much as growing them.
So, what’s next?
My sense is that instead of one place or one thing, it’s new things and helping different people. Nothing was lined up taking me away, so I’m still very open to opportunities. There are some local projects here in Oklahoma City I’m looking at cause taking global tools and pointing them back for local value is very intriguing to me. But I’m also still very passionate about digital strategy for online community, causes, online events, marketing, etc. I know I shine best in the development of ideas into a reality that produces value - specifically leveraging digital mediums, but I’m open to new things.
In this transition I’d ask for your prayers for the Steward household. Any time God has moved us into the unknown, with risk involved, he has always been faithful to help us connect with fulfilling projects, experiences and wonderful people to live life with. This is another time of risk for us, but we know that God is in it, and we are expectant of what lies just around the corner!
